Spinning and Knitting

I'm so exited about my spinning class, this week we plied our handspun yarns together, they are not perfect at all but I feel great knowing how to do this stuff.

In the meantime I have finished a couple of things and started a couple of more... Here they are.

Fetching from Knitty, super fast to knit and the yarn is supersoft.

Spinning 101

This is the 3rd. week for my spinning class, the fist time for homework we brought wool home, washed it and dried it, the second week we brought home the same wool and a set of cards, our homework was carding the washed wool, it was not much fun, it's taking a while to figure out how to do it properly, the second part of homework was to sit and treadle (no spinning) until we got tired.

Tonight we spun the carded wool and some other roving, it was fun to finally make something, my spinning is not the best, a little on the thin side, but practice makes perfect and this entire week, every night I'll be spinning and carding. It's definitely harder than it looks.

Finito!!

P9110019 Opal socks knitted on vacation.

72 sts on 2 circ. top down, short row heel.

Forest Canopy Shoulder Shawl  My first finished lace shawl! Very well wriPa010100tten  pattern and easy to memorize, I made a few more repeats using Koigu, don't the coPa010101lors remind P9280019you of fall? A couple more shots after blocking.  I looove Koigu, it's so soft after washing. For this shawl I used knitpicks option needles, the sharp points really helped out a lot.

Now I really need to get started on something new for socktoberfest!. I'm thinking lace socks for mua!! I got the yarn and pattern. Better get off the computer and get started!

I'm still here

Yes, I'm still here and knitting, things are very busy, our summer went fast and we had a wonderful trip. The kids are back in school and doing good, it's busier than last year, V is in 7th grade now and a total young lady, and C started 2nd grade with the best teacher in the school.

knitting has been progressing, I've finished a few things and started an spinning class with my brand spankin new wheel, I can't believe hubby went for it and just bought it for me. I guess the whole process of making yarn intrigues him more than me (..obviously).

Since my last post I have finished many things, 2 pairs of socks, 4 or 5 baby hats, a baby sweater, a scarf and my first lace shawl. I must say I feel overwhelmed with all the things people post about, I usually take advantage of the free time for knitting and not for blogging and now with spinning time is really precious.
